Allanon is a half-orc paladin of Al'Akbar, and a member of the RestoredScales
Mother Alonsa is a middle aged Cleric of Zodal. She is in charge of the Temple here in Blasingdale, and acts as the main healer for the town.

Very practical and down to earth. She offers to sell "Adventurer insurance" -pre-paid raise dead plus Gentle Repose oil. 1300gp. refund 1200gp if not used. She will also rent a safety deposit chest that come with two locks. 10 gp a month, in advance.
Alton is a hard to describe.
Balsag is a bugbear. He hunts for the goblin tribe with his two pet dire rats.
The Battle of Emridy Meadows was a critical military event in CY 569 in which the allied forces of good sacked the [[Temple of Elemental Evil]] and dispersed hordes of its cultists. Emridy Meadows itself is a series of grassy clearings south of the Velverdyva.

Men-at-arms from Furyondy and Veluna united with dwarves from the Lortmils, gnomes from the Kron Hills, and an army of elven archers to face the threat of the Horde of Elemental Evil, comprised largely of savage humanoids such as orcs, ogres, and gnolls. The arrival of the elves from the shadows of the Gnarley Forest turned the tide of battle, trapping the savage humanoids against a bend in the Velverdyva where they were routed and slaughtered.
Belak the outcast was a druid who found the Gulthias tree. He's been trying to figure out how to merge the twig blights with other creatures with little success for the last 13 years. He forced [[Sharwun]] and [[Sir Bradford]] into becoming supplicants of the tree, forever dooming them. It's possible the magic fruit of the tree wold heal Sharwyn.
This place is run by a sage named Betham, who has created a kind of magic coffeehouse where all sorts of arcane types can hang out, drink hot beverages and argue magic theory until the wee hours. Betham has a reference library of various books you can browse for a fee (lets say 1 day pass is 50 gp, you can also arrange longer term membership if you want).

It’s obvious after a short time that there are a lot of magical treatises here that the Enlightened Society/Silver Consortium would consider misguided or dangerous. Betham has a “free thinking” policy – no ideas cannot be discussed, no one is turned away no matter how heretical they are.

You can buy scrolls here for list price... most spells up to 5th level. Additionally Betham sells some individual spells in a mini-spellbook format, suitable for copying. It seems he has some scribes who churn these things out – they copy the spells over and over without really understanding the content. Anyway, you can definitely get little mini-spellbooks of Fireball and Greater Magic Weapon if you wish. Cost is 300 gp each (Betham must have some cheap supply of spellbook writing materials!).

Blasingdale is a large town of 2100 citizens. Elf 45%, Dwarf 30%, Human 15%, 5% halfling 5% gnome.

BaronAlthon rules the area from his nearby estate. He is interested in acquiring all the weapons he can made by DurgeGeddin.
[[Liam]] is majordomo to the Baron.

KheldganTolm, Tolm's Dry Goods
LarrithlarrienImplohidel, Justice of the Peace
DaraWhitwood,constable
[[Alonsa]] sister of Zodal,in charge of the Temple to Zodal.
BilburBrandytoes, Innkeep Griffons Nest
The Cairn Hills are near the free City of GreyHawk. The hills are filled with cairns, hiding the ancient tombs of a very old race.

One plot hook pointing here; in a journal found on a body.
Calcryx is a newly hatched white dragon, barely a year old. He hates kobolds, especially [[Meepo]], the kobold dragon keeper. The goblins captured him in a raid a week ago. He doesn't hate the goblins as much as the kobolds, because they gave hime more treasure for his hoard, and they feed him better. He fears the hobgoblin [[Balsag]].

He hates the party for capturing him and tying him. Since his escape from the party, he plans on getting bigger and getting his revenge...
Calmer runs the Church for YDey. Everyone who wants to speal to her must go through him first.
He has scrolls for sale

Scrolls prepared.

Chatrilon looks to be an adventurer. He says he has been out to the MoatHouse a week before the party arrived. He didn't see anything besides a few zombies. He is eager to go to the Temple of Elemental Evil and hunt hobgoblins for a share of the treasure. He appears to have about the same experience as the party.

He's wearing studded leather armor, and carries a rapier.
It's quite easy to find Clotho's clothes in the Gnome Quarter - Clotho has a number of brightly painted shops overlooking the Velverdyva, near the southernmost bridge over to the East End. Clotho's Clothes is sandwiched between the pungent Clotho's Cheese House and Clotho's Taxidermy and Furrier. Unexpectedly, Clotho himself turns out to be a halfling, though he obviously fits into the local community quite well. He dresses much like a gnome and barks instructions to his gnomish assistants in their own language.

You can get all sorts of clothes, from the prosaic to the elegant, in this shop, which is surprisingly huge and includes two basement stories.

Clotho says that he'll look at magic clothing items you might have for sale.

The following minor magical items are available:
Boots of Elvenkind (2,500 gp)
Cloak of Charisma +2 (4,700 gp)
Cloak of Resistance +1 (3 in stock) (1,125 gp)
Glove of Storing (2 in stock) (2,800 gp)
Heward's Handy Haversack (2,500 gp)
Periapt of Proof against Poison (4,500 gp)
Vest of Escape (2,300 gp)

Note from Narquent to Dunrat

Dunrat,

You are required to proceed to Hommlet, and set up a base of operations there. Take care you are not discovered, especially by the bitch YDey.

You will need to find the ancient shrine to our Dark God, locate and recover any treasure or artifacts found there, seal the shrine, and bring the artifacts safely back to the Temple of All Consumption. Several alcolytes and gnolls have been assigned to you to aid in your task.

A wagon can be obtained from Tal Chammish in Rastor to haul the artifacts back to the crater.

Fail me in this and I shall feed you to Satau if you are lucky, the Dark Prince if you are not.

Excerpts from a Journal
24 Wealsun
I do not claim to understand fully the workings of the Great Church and the Master of All-Consumption. Their alliance with these foul-smelling brutes in one that suprises me. I had assumed that we we were the favored of the dark Lord. Who are these scaly beastmen to tell us what to do? No matter. Soon we’ll leave this accursed town and I won’t be cooped up in this flourmill with the creature.

2 Reaping
Annihilation take you, Hommlet! I’ve not enjoyed my brief stay here. The food from the inn brought by Vacra was very good, however. Venison cured very nicely. What is that seasoning? Perhaps when we’ve slain all the people of this place, I can discover the secrets of it’s preparation. Great will be that day. Praise to the Elder Elemental Eye!

15 Reaping
Just as the Doomdreamers proclaimed, the Dark Obelisk is here, under a pool in a cave. We discovered that below the pool was a shaft with a false bottom, sealed for many years. Once penetrated, the pool drained down into a wondrous cave pulsating with the power of our revered Master of Mysteries. O great day!

Apparently, the water from the stream above was diverted into the shaft, to fill up the pool and hide the cave from unworthy eyes! Truly the Dark God inspired such a wondrous plan, although it surely was carried out only after his unjust imprisonment. Yours shall be the name we proclaim, Dark Lord, once we have breathed new life into your most deserved worship. Once you are free all shall be set right, and those who deserve it most shall meet their cruel, cruel fate. Blessed destruction!

3 Goodmonth
I marvel at the skill of our enlightened predecessors who constructed the Obelisk to honor and commune with the Dark Lord. Those must have been wonderful, heady days in which to live. Under the leadership of Master Thaque, we shall recover the relics of our lost heritage and return to the Temple of All-Consumption. Praise the Elder Elemental Eye!

14 Goodmomth
Alas! Foul beast! What fate has befallen us? It must be a test sent to us from beyond – we must now go on without the leadership of Master Thaque, may his soul rest with the Dark God in the cold embrace of dissolution now and forevermore. Oh, wicked, cruel fate – I seek not your judgment in the claws of some dragon!

But Gungash is also dead. I hated him – he stole my lunch two days ago, and it was an excellent boiled egg and some of Tashi’s delicious spicebread. Take his soul, Dark Lord, and crush it beneath your contemptuous heel.

It appears that we are trapped here for a time. Festrath cannot convince the gnolls to attack the beast together-not after what happened two days ago. I think the dragon laughs at us. A grand joke, beast, but one that you’ll pay for with your very soul! Now Festrath hides with the Obelisk and the creature. We will continue our work here, but eventually we shall run out of food. Perhaps we shall have to live as the lovely ghouls do here. Or perhaps gnoll flesh can be flavored in some way so as to make it palatable.

17 Goodmonth
Gren reports sounds of combat form the courtyard. Alas it’s not a rescue from out friends in Hommlet, but another group. They shall not get the Dark God’s artifacts! Ysslansh has prepared an ambush. At least his foul stench will not bother me for a while.

The group seems to have driven the blue beast off. I’ve sent Gren into town. It’s time for us to leave and head west to home. I’m looking forward to the mountains again.
The Water Temple will soon make its move against the forces of Fire. Return quickly Festrath, for we need your aid.Together, we shall win the favor of the doomdreamers and the Triad itself.
Mereclar-
We understand your need for more guards; to that end, we will be sending you an additional 500 gold. Use these funds to recruit some of the orcs south of Rastor. The brutes should be capable enough. Security is of the upmost importance, especially now as we continue our search for the Champion. Outer Fane clerics have been searching for the Champion of Elemental Evil, and may be returning soon. Be on watch, and let them pass.

I will contact you again should the need arise.

Yours in Peace,
Naquent
Master Terrenygit

We wish to extend our admiration for the way in which you have administered the forces defending the main gate. Under your care, it is secure against intrusion of outsiders who do not understand our need for seclusion. We have concerns, however, that you may wish to ally yourself with others of your people in the Earth Temple. We must request that you do not. Maintain your vigilance. Great reward shall come to the priest who helps secure us against outsiders who would violate our retreat. Things will go much better for all of us if you comply.

High Priest of the Outer Fane
Master Uskathoth,

I am pleased to hear that you and your people have settled in nicely after agreeing so readily to further our Dark Lord's purposes. After that unpleasant business a year ago when the Fire Temple practically smashed our brethren of the Earth, I'm sure I don't know what we would have done without you.

I feel that those of your race are a credit to the Elder Elemental Eye, and that you will reach much farther in the service of Ogremoch than your human predecessors ever would have. Should you ever have need to contact me, I will be

Always watching from the Outer Fane,

Master Hedrack

Diamond Lake is a mining town. Situated on the north shore of a lake of the same name, Diamond Lake is located in the CairnHills, and lies three days ride east of the Free City of GreyHawk. The town is ruled by a governor-mayor appointed by the Directing Oligarchy of Greyhawk. As of 595 CY, the governor-mayor is Lanod Neff, who has held his office since at least 591 CY.

Diamond Lake was officially founded some time in the 4th century CY, at the direction of the "mad" archmage Zagig Yragerne, during his stint as Lord Mayor of Greyhawk City.

Type the text for 'Eladriel'

Eladriel is not the smartest elf in the bunch. Despite his advanced warrior training, Eladriel will sometimes make tactical mistakes, as befits his low intelligence. Generally his training is enough to see him through.
Elberoth is a big burly Elf with a normally laid back demeanor that occasionally betrays hints of borderline psychosis. Never happier than when he's beating on something, he also has little patience for fools and overly civilized folk. A creature of action, he appears to have little impulse control and dislikes talking things out.

He has provided no information as to his background, and appears to have little interest in anyone else's.

Elberoth fell in battle facing a half Gnoll half Orc fighter. His companions pooled funds to get him raised by the Cannoness YDey.

Elberoth fell again, facing a half earth elemental/Half troglodyte fighter.

Capital city of the Fey Kingdom of Celene. Enstad is full of elves, especially grey elves.

Queen Yolande has sealed the borders of Celene in response to the Greyhawk Wars. There is still some travel and trade with other regions, but it has greatly diminished in the last few years.

Nearby towns include Blasingdell, and Rastor. The entire area is made up of minor fiefs for the local nobility.

Enstad
The architecture of Enstad and Courwood is said to rival that of the greatest elven citadels of old times...and is even compared with that of the City of the Summer Stars before its fall. The stonework and artistry of the several concentric rings of the cities' walls, surmounted by fairy spires, is said to bring tears to the eyes of the most taciturn dwarf of the few who have actually seen the cities. The buildings crafted from living woods, marble, silver, and even ice, leave most of the city's visitors speechless, and stay imprinted with nostalgia in the memories of those who happen to leave the place.

There are several gates all around the city, and although they all are different in looks, they are all taken care of in the same way.
The gate's are open wide, and many people come and go through them all day. Most of them are elves, but some humans, gnomes and halflings can be seen amongst them.

Guards in post at the gate seem to know everyone as they hardly control any of the people entering the city.
But all new-comers are stopped, controlled and identified, although, unlike most human cities, this necessary event is held in the most courteous way, and all visitors are warmly welcomed...

... when they are of elven blood.

The Free City of Greyhawk, Gem of the Flanaess.

Everything is available in the Free City of Greyhawk.
[[Greyhawk wikipedia|http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Free_City_of_Greyhawk]] [[Map|http://melkot.com/locations/cogh/cogh.html]]

The Free City of Greyhawk is located centrally in the Flanaess, which is the easternmost part of the continent of Oerik on the world of Oerth. The city controls a large swath of land along the Selintan River from the Nyr Dyv south to Woolly Bay most of the Cairn Hills, parts of the Gnarley Forest, the northern Wild Coast, and parts of the ~Abbor-Alz. The entire region is officially known as the Domain of Greyhawk. The Domain is bordered on the east by the ~Abbor-Alz and its western border lies within the Gnarley Forest. The area south of Greyhawk City along the Selintan is known as the Plain of Greyhawk.

As of 589 CY (Common Year), the city itself boasted a population of 69,500, making it one of the largest cities on Oerth. The population for the entire Greyhawk Domain is roughly 160,000, including the larger towns of Safeton (pop. 6,100), Hardby (pop. 5,100) and Elmshire (pop. 4,000).

In approximately 310 CY, the mage Zagig Yragerne emerged from the Wild Coast and bribed his way into a seat on the Directing Oligarchy. Soon after, the Oligarchs elected Zagig Lord Mayor.

Greyhawk subsequently rose in fame and prominence under the leadership of Lord Mayor Zagig. He instituted legal reform, developed a new currency, fortified the walls, founded the city's first university and embarked on a major building program. Most notably, he directed the construction of nearby Castle Greyhawk.

Although Zagig -- later known as Zagyg -- became increasingly erratic over time, his rule is generally considered to be the most effective in the Free City's history and brought widespread prosperity to the region. Much to the annoyance of Dyvers and other rival cities, Zagig proclaimed Greyhawk to be the "Gem of the Flanaess," and did much to ensure this moniker was justified. Unfortunately, the "Mad Archmage" disappeared in 421 CY, leaving no clues regarding his whereabouts, and no heir to inherit the title of Lansgraf.

Castle Greyhawk and Maure Castle or two prominent castles, rumored to be full of treasure and adventure.

In 582 CY, a leader of great power and charisma arose among the barbarians. He called himself Vatun, Great God of the North - and had the power to support his claim. Vatun must have somehow proved his power to these doubtful rulers, for the kings of Fruztii, Schnai, and Cruski each surrendered their ancestral sovereignty to "all-powerful" Vatun.

Vatun, though, was hardly what he seemed: The entire episode was a fraud. Iuz, with his evil cunning and demi-god powers, fabricated the god Vatun and masqueraded as messiah of the barbarians.

To this point, the conflict that was to become the great Greyhawk War was viewed by most nations as just another regional dispute -albeit a particularly volatile one - between a few northern nations. The states of the Iron League and those around Keoland saw little reason to help the besieged nations, or even to fortify their own borders against attack. But the rulers of these nations were, as all mortal folk, blind to the plans of Fate.

While fresh armies marched north, startling events unfolded in a long-neglected part of the world - the Pomarj. Once part of the Keoland Empire, this wild tangle of mountains and woods had long since passed into the hands of savage humanoid tribes. Over the decades, the Principality of Ulek made numerous attempts to reclaim the region, but none could defeat the fierce resistance of the orcs and goblins who now sheltered in this wilderness. The Pomarj quickly earned the reputation of a place of death, slavery, degeneracy, and treasure. Only corrupt or adventurous humans and demihumans intentionally entered there.

This savage reputation hid from the neighboring lands of Celene and Ulek the events unfolding in the Pomarj. A revolution had occurred like none that land had ever seen: a half-orc leader had emerged. After claiming chieftainship of the Nedla peoples, Turrosh Mak seized control of the neighboring tribes. Proclaiming himself Despot, Turrosh Mak proceeded to forge the mismatched collection of tribes into a single confederation. What might have seemed folly to even attempt, Despot Mak achieved.

Avoiding the large tracts of forest due north, Turrosh swung his armies northwest, down the ridge of the Lortmils between Celene and the County of Ulek. The gnomes, halflings, and dwarves of the hills fought with courage and skill, but many of the boldest and best trained soldiers were away in Furyondy. The orcs drove further northwest, virtually unopposed until they reached Celene pass. There a combined force of reservists - humans, dwarves, gnomes, halflings, and even elves from Celene - made their stand.

Long distrustful of outsiders, Her Fey Majesty Yolande now let fears and suspicions paralyze her nation. To her mind, humans from the north had "demanded" her aid and thus drained vital troops from her lands. Now dwarves and gnomes, no friends of the elves, pressed her for help in the mountains. No country offered to assist Celene in defending its woodlands from the Pomarj threat, she reasoned, so Celene would aid no others. In a brief and emphatic proclamation, the Queen of Celene recalled her troops from Furyondy and closed the borders of her nation. Others had started these wars and others would solve them -without the loss of elvish lives.

For two long years (582 to 584 CY), the nations of the Flanaess had schemed, murdered, and warred against each other until nearly all sides lay bloodied and beaten: war had exhausted the land and the people. Furyondy and Iuz ground to a stalemate; Nyrond's vast coffers were drained dry and its overtaxed peasants were rebellious; the Great Kingdom was shattered into a swarm of petty landholdings vying for power; Keoland fought invasion on all sides; countless men, dwarves, elves, and orcs marched off to war, never to return; farms stood empty; fields lay fallow. . . . The Flanaess could make war no longer.

The City of Greyhawk, untouched by the war, became the site of the conference. In the month of Harvester, the Great Council (as it came to be known) convened.
The final act of the immense drama of war occurred on the Day of the Great Signing. A pact had been resolved and nearly all the nations had agreed to sign it. As this solemn ceremony got underway, however, a tumultuous event occurred.

Even today a haze obscures the details: apparently someone plotted to annihilate the entire diplomatic corps in attendance, but the scheme misfired. A blazing explosion destroyed a good part of the Grand Hall only minutes before the ambassadors assembled for the day. A fierce magical battle immediately ensued, spreading havoc through much of the old city. When the fire and dust cleared, constables discovered smoldering robes belonging to two powerful members of the mysterious Circle of Eight - Otiluke and Tenser. The murderer of these wizards, undeniably a powerful mage, was discovered to be a third member of the Circle of Eight - Rary. Using secrets gained in confidence, Rary not only vaporized his two fellows but also tracked down and destroyed every clone the pair held in preparation.

Ingrith is a ranger that patrols the area arounf [[Hommlet]]. She will go into town for a day or two every few weeks. She knows of the hobgoblins using the ToEE as a base, but they are not much of a threat.
"His Most Profane Eminence, Lord of Pain, Fiend of the North, Child of the Evil One, Master of the Dread and Awful Presences, Iuz the Evil, Iuz the Old" so was this foul demi-god hailed by the corrupt and evil things that served him. Ruling from blood-black Dorakaa, City of Skulls, Iuz harbored an undisguised desire to dominate all of the Flanaess. He first gained notice, however, a century before the GreyhawkWars.

In 479 CY, the land now called Iuz was a fractious collection of independent fiefs. The petty princes who ruled these plots of land vied to inherit the lands of Furyondy, which at that time reached far north. Among these princes was a paltry despot of the Howling Hills, who died in that year and left the land to a son of questionable origin- Iuz. Oddly, rumors alternately described the "son" as an old man and a 7-foot-tall, feral-faced fiend.

As more and more fiefs fell to the humanoids, a swelling stream of refugees carried wild tales of Iuz's powers to Furyondy in the south. According to such rumors, Iuz had constructed a road paved with skulls between the Howling Hills and Dorakaa, his new capital. The watchtowers guarding the road were said to be fueled on the flesh of living men. Iuz himself had sloughed off his withered form and grown to colossal size - or so the tales said. Though hindsight may dismiss the most outlandish of such claims, the rumors at that time spread panic along the southern shores of Whyestil Lake.

So it was that Iuz's external threat sundered Furyondy internally. By 505 CY, a three-way split had grown in the ranks of the nobility. The most powerful faction was the Great Lords of the south, who used Iuz's threat to lever their lands from the king's control. Second in power was the Order of the Hart, which grew in unity and strength to oppose Iuz's border raids. Least in power was King Avras III with his estates and kin. Trapped in the lands between the more powerful factions, the king futilely strove to appease both.

At this crisis point, however, Iuz's growing power was checked. Whether by luck, wisdom, or courage, a small party of adventurers managed to seize the Lord of Evil and imprison him beneath the towers of Castle Greyhawk. How or why they undertook this feat has long been lost to the tides of time - lost along with all but one of the heroes' names: the wizard Zagyg the Mad.

With all the turmoil within his borders, King Belvor IV of Furyondy virtually ignored Iuz's return in 570 CY. Iuz, for his own part, had not sought to draw the attention of the southern lands. His sudden departure left disorder in the kingdom and until he could reassert absolute authority over the quarrelsome humanoid tribes, he was content to be ignored by his enemies.

Lawful Good is known as the "Saintly" or "Crusader" alignment. A lawful good character typically acts with compassion, and always with honour and a sense of duty. A lawful good nation would consist of a well-organized government that works for the benefit of its citizens. Lawful good characters include righteous knights, all paladins and most dwarves. Lawful good creatures include the noble golden dragons.

Lawful Good characters, especially paladins, may sometimes find themselves faced with the dilemma of whether to obey Law or Good when the two conflict - for example, upholding a sworn oath when it would lead innocents to come to harm - or conflicts between two orders, such as between their religious law and the law of the local ruler.

Lon Darso Er'faron, Son of Alon, Betrayer of Kobolds, Slayer of Goblins, Leader of the Morose Marauders (Name Pending)

Lon speaks little of his past, though his demeanor seeps a patrician’s upbringing. In your time traveling him you have found him to be quick to judge, full of blame, and self-centered. However, in spite of displaying some seedy skills and a bad attitude, he has looked out for the interest of the group and has done much to prove he isn’t out to cheat the party. Time is changing, though.

Lon is the self-proclaimed leader of the party.

MAYAHEINE (The Shield Maiden), Demi Power, female, LG
Attributes: Protection, Justice, Valor
Domains: Good, Guardian, Law, Protection, War
Symbol: Open hand
Typical Worshippers: Those in need or protection
Raiment: White robes with gold trim
Preferred Weapon: Bastard sword, longbow, mace
Holy Days: 1st of Wealsun, Goodrhys

Protect those who need it. For good to survive it is necessary to defend the weak and innocent. Bravery, strength of mind, and perseverance in times of hardship or danger are virtues, and adherence to the concepts of justice, fairness, and righteousness are essential. Obedience to Pelor the Sun Father is as important as devotion to the Shield Maiden. Just as Mayaheine traveled a long way to aid our world, it may be necessary for the faithful to travel far to uphold her word.

Mayaheine [Demigod]:
The cult of Mayaheine (~MY-ah-heen) is one considerably on the increase in beleaguered, nonevil Flanaess lands, for Mayaheine is a demipower of protection and survival. Mayaheine rose from mortal ranks as an epic hero, a paladin of Pelor. She does not originate from Oerth and has traveled, with Pelor's aid, from some unknown alternate world in the Prime Material. Flanaess folk see this act as potential salvation and revere her for coming to aid them (Pelor's cult has improved its standing, too).
Mayaheine is portrayed as a strikingly tall (6' 4") woman of some 30 years of age, tanned of skin, with blue eyes and auburn-gold hair. She wears silvered plate mail and hefts a magical bastard sword. She is a fine warrior, but above all, she is a protector. Tales of her always involve her seeking out protective magical items and giving them to others in need, and fighting to defend beleaguered communities. Mayaheine strives to defend the poor and downtrodden. She is a defender-on-the-ramparts figure, armed with a deadly longbow said to fire almost to the horizon. Her magical shield is said to be capable of melding into stone and protecting city walls from fire, frost, and magical assault.
Services to Mayaheine include hymn singing with the congregation linking arms, consecration of weapons, armor, and shields, and collection of alms for the needy. Her priests are few, since the cult is young.
Mayaheine's Priests:
Clerics of Mayaheine train themselves and others in self-defense. They help build town walls and other protective constructions; many take roles as community leaders, their devotion to justice and good making them excellent judges. They travel to prove their bravery, right wrongs, and to destroy strongholds of evil. This faith sponsors many paladins of other faiths as well. They are always respectful of clerics of Pelor, for their religion wouldn't exist on Oerth if it weren't for him.
Meepo was the Keeper of Dragons for the kobold clan. He has many scars on his body to prove it.

After the party freed [[Calcryx]], Meepo decided to follow one of the party, since the kobold clan was destroyed.

There is a small but well appointed shrine to Garl Glittergold in a prominent position. Two obsequious gnomes, who clam to be Nib's sons, wait on you.

half orc barbarian turned dwarf
Early Observations...
Rias appears to be a young Baklunish man from ekbir. He tlkas of some Shattered Scale organization, or something, and all about Al'Akbar and fighting evil.

After some time traveling with Rais...
You’ve learned Rais is “odd” by any standards, Baklunish or otherwise. He takes a perverse pleasure in fighting evil and is all to willing to remind you of the great service he has done by splattering the blood any foe. Over the weeks and days you have traveled with him, you’ve started to make sense of who he is fighting for. At first, he seemed to almost randomly come up with names as he screamed headlong into battle.

However, you’ve learned there is more to those names. First and foremost, he serves the Baklunish God Al’Akbar. If you didn’t already know it, you’ve learned Al’Akbar is a just, noble, and good god in the West.

You’ve also heard him speak of the legend of Sa’rashra, the Golden Dragon whom he is in the service of. Sa’rashra is different from most Golden Dragons as she was in her youth a Red Dragon. By the power of Al’Akbar and the kindness of his servants, she was nursed from near death and slowly grew into a Golden Dragon. This legend is said to have taken place hundreds and hundreds of years ago.

In recent years, Sa’rashra has taken pity on the lands far east of her domain. She has felt the burning desire to repay Al’Akbar and return to the world the goodness that was shown to her. After hearing the tale of a noble Baklunish sorcerer who fought the Evil of Iuz, she finally saw what she could do. With the Sorcerer, Sa’rashra formed the Order of the Restored Scales, an order bent on taking the good word of Al’Akbar across the lands to fight Evil. Still a young order, their energy has been focused on small operations within Iuz and around the Temple of Elemental Evil.

Rais, you’ve learned, has recently become a full fledged member within the Order of RestoredScales.
Redithor is practicing to be a bard. Just not very well.

Your characters can be from any of these countries, or travelers from more distant lands who have come to the region for one purpose or another.

Common starting backgrounds:
Druids/Rangers may be from the Gnarley Woods. Gnomes can be from the Kron Hills.
Elves may have traveled from Highfolk, Celene, or the Celadon forest. Dwarves may be from the Lortmils, or almost anywhere else in the Flanaess

Verbobonc is really more of a city-state than a country, as it consists of a single city and the territory south of the Velverdyva river surrounding the city for approximately a hundred miles in most directions. It nominally owes fealty to the Archclericacy of Veluna, but is de facto autonomous in practice. It consists of the city of Verbobonc, along with fourteen small freeholds surrounding the city. The population is mostly human, gnome, and elf, and the country is ruled by the Viscount Langard, who resides in the city. Verbobonc is presently engulfed by political turmoil, as the gnomes of the Kron Hills, south of the city, are in a state of uprising against Verbobonc’s authority, alleging that the Viscount has neglected their interests and that they are better off on their own. The entire country is also menaced by the ever-present Empire of Iuz to the north of Veluna and Furyondy, and Verbobonc also has a dark history of having evil cults of all types spring up in its more wild regions south of the city.

Verbobonc city has a population of roughly 13,000, and it is by far the largest settlement in the country. All other towns are much smaller. They include Hommlet, Rastor, and Oakhurst, all of which are located to the south of Verbobonc city. The total population of the entire Viscounty is roughly 180,000. The campaign will begin in the late spring of the year CY 592, in the aftermath of a series of wars that have shaken much of the Flanaess.

4. Character Types and Alignment

This campaign is flexible in terms of party configuration and group motivations. You may choose whatever character types and alignments you wish, provided that the mix of alignments makes some kind of sense for a group that could plausibly work together. The characters will all start at first level. Although every type of character can be valuable and you will have to weigh the pros and cons of each, I would say that a healer of some sort is absolutely essential.

Evil alignments can expect a difficult time.

As you decide on character types, remember that your characters will collectively comprise the entire party—there will be no ~NPCs in the group at the beginning. If you wish, you can always try to recruit NPC allies once the game starts.

5. Character Backgrounds:

I would like each of you to provide me a fairly detailed character background. It will be up to you to decide whether your characters already know one another or if they are meeting each other for the first time when the campaign begins.

6. Character Generation Guidelines:

I’ll need you to choose character classes, races, and decide on stats. Three methods for stats. 28 point buy, roll, or “Divine Gamble”.

You may use our standard stat rolling method: roll 4d6 a total of seven times. Each time you roll the 4d6, discard the lowest die roll and record the total of the remaining three. At the end you’ll have seven stat scores, so you should discard the lowest one. Once you have your six scores, you may place them as you wish in the six areas (str, dex, con, etc.).

Divine Gamble: DM decides on 6 scores array, you apply them as you see fit to each stat. I’ll also tell you your starting equipment and gold.

Classes: Any PHB, ~PHB2 base class.

Anything from any other book ( Complete xxx) needs prior approval.

Character Equipment:

As 1st level characters, your party will have no magical equipment and only basic (non-magical) equipment from the Player’s Handbook. Once you have chosen your character class, go ahead and take max gold for your class to buy equipment.

Character minis:

I have several to choose from. If you provide your own painted mini that fits your PC, I’ll reward bonus XP…….

7. Multiclass Characters and Prestige Classes

If there is any prestige class from any source you would like to work towards, let me know and give me a copy of the documentation for review.

8. Experience and Advancement

I’ll track experience points gained at the end of each session.

9. Character Death

I’ll try and keep the campaign true to Greyhawk. I expect PC deaths. TPK’s are possible (bad dice, not running fast enough from a fight gone bad..)

New characters enter the campaign at the beginning of the level of the lowest pre-existing PC. While this campaign isn't a grinder on the level of, say, Tomb of Horrors, it's pretty dangerous, so you might want to maintain a backup character of the appropriate level in case your PC dies. Alternatively, if there's an NPC you might be interested in playing, you may be able to take over running an NPC. New PCs will generally "pop up" as prisoners, survivors from other adventuring bands, etc. We'll be integrating them with a minimum of fuss. Seriously.

New characters will start with 1/2 standard gold, but do *not* have any magic items. This seems harsh, until you consider the problem of several PC deaths and the glut of gold and magic items that will result. Also, since we don't have too much duplication between classes, usually the new characters will be picking up the dead character's equipment at some point anyway. Buy all the masterwork stuff you want, but no magic items.

10. Respec /Retcon / Rebuild

Or I’d really like to tweak my character……..

Following options are available when you level.

Swapping class levels for other levels.

1 level 1000 gp
2 levels 3000 gp
3 levels 8000 gp
4 levels 16000 +1500 xp

(You may spend the xp to drop a level, and not really drop.)

You must meet all the requirements of your new level, as if you had made the PC that way from the start.

Sorcerer’s may swap out one known spell for another of the same spell level.

Feats
You must meet all the requirements of your new feat, as if you had taken the new feat originally.

1 feat 500 gp
2 feats 3000 gp
3 feats 10000 gp
4 feats 20000 gp

THE ONE RULE TO RULE THEM ALL
KEEP IT TO YOURSELF.

Knowledge of the original ~ToEE module won't be particularly helpful, and players who've been through it don't have a special advantage. That said, do not blurt out helpful tidbits that your character wouldn't know. This has the tendency to focus my usual free-floating malevolence to a white-hot point centered somewhere on your forehead. Similarly, if you've unavoidably picked up information about the campaign's current incarnation, as I know some of you have, KEEP IT TO YOURSELF. No hints, asides, cryptic or not-so-cryptic warnings, or interjections. Very little irritates me more than people who let the cat out of the bag, even if it's a large and ill-disguised cat. This is not difficult to grasp. Again, free-floating malevolence, white-hot point.

Sebastian may not be the prettiest character in the group, but he’s hands down the most charismatic. He is human of Sueloise descent and appears to be in his early forties, blonde hair going to silver, but there’s always an air of vigorous energy about him belying his age. Sebastian worships mighty Zilchus, the Lord of Commerce, carries a solid gold holy symbol (of a hand holding a bag of money), and uses the God’s power to perform miraculous (if minor) healing upon the group as needed. An occasional blessing or magical enchantment of another party member’s blade can also be traced to his pious faith.

But Sebastian appears to be a man of many other talents as well. He tells the most amazing stories and can motivate others through the power of his words. And he can literally pull a rabbit (or a dog, a spider, a scorpion, a hawk, a badger, an octopus, etc.) out of a hat. He commands his pets using a variety of other-worldly tongues, was trading elf jokes in dwarven with Ulfgar (before Ulfgar’s untimely demise), appears to know what the elves are muttering under their breath, and is the party’s un-official spokesperson to large, winged reptilian monsters with breath weapons. And he’s such an effective spokesperson, he can charm the birds out of the trees and apparently can convince dragons not to eat the free meals lying in front of them.

In terms of brute power, he’s a little under-strength compared to some of the rest of the group, but there’s no denying his versatile utility in a lot of situations. He’ll probably be a bit of a late bloomer, but he’ll be useful to have around, so don’t let him draw too much fire, ok?
Sebastian has recently aquired a cohort, who appears to be dedicated to heling and caring for others.

Investigating the [[Moathouse]] they find the dead body of the blue dragon killed a few weeks ago. They find a body under the dragon, and more information about what is going on [[Clue 2]]. Further investigation into the Moathouse, the party easily dispatches some undead (skeletons, ghasts, ghouls). They follow a twisting maze carved into the earth, and find an alter and a pillar of stone. The entire room is very cold. The pillar has four different humanoid visages carved into it. The altar is made of black stone. A careful search of the pillar revealed 4 items, a magic bead, silver chimes, a small black drum, and a brass brazier.

Alton searched the alter, and the alter began to turn from black to a transparent amethyst, with a black amphorous center. Malkoth cast Cure Light Wounds on the alter, and became paralyzed. Elberoth rang the silver chimes, and the black mass turned into a bright yellow glowing eye ( think Sauron…) A few failed will saves later….

Rais is permanently insane, although it’s hard to tell. Alton has taken strength damage, and can barely walk.

Session 15
August10, 2007
Brewfest 3

Brewfest 3,4
Party goes to rest in 234. Identify ring (Ring of Sustenance), rest overnight, (Brewfest 4) identify boots (Boots of Elvinkind), cloak (Cloak of Resistance +1).

Elberoth, Sebastian and Stardancer head back to town. Arrive towards evening. Sebastian convinces the Yarew the Innkeeper to bake 120 really small pastries. In 4 hours…..

Sebastian then negotiates for pearls with Xanthos. Buy two now, leave 550gp for Xanthos to buy 5 more from the next caravan through town. Sebastian agrees to buy more at 5% over cost.
Elberoth gets talking to some orcs in the tavern, and eventually wheedles out of them the ‘secret’ fighting potion Tal makes for them. Elberoth buys one for a silver, and quickly feels the rush of power as the potion takes hold. Little does he know, but he is now a Tanbrosh addict. The orcs tell him to be careful, as too much of a good thing is a bad thing, and to make sure and take a potion at least every other day. Elberoth heads over to the Tal’s hut, and buys 25 more Tanbrosh potions, all that Tal has ready. (Tal has materials to make more for his other ‘customers’, and he likes the idea of having one of the new guys in town under his power.)

Sebastian and Elberoth head back to CRM. Stardancer stays behind to keep an eye on Tal Chammish.

Stardancer waits for Tal to return to his hut and fall asleep. Stardancer then quietly searches the place again, this time finding a symbol of the Elder Elemental Eye buried in a trunk, along with 4 scrolls of Whispering Wind. Convinced she has found the Temple’s spy in town, Stardancer coup de grace’s Tal Chammish. Tal yells (barely surviving the attack), then dies from Stardancer’s second strike. Stardancer quickly leaves in the darkness. Rastor responds to yell, Jardeth finds the empty house and dead body. Rerrid casts Speak w/ dead the next day. The town now knows Stardancer killed Tal Chammish. (DM note. I was like WTH??? Where did that come from? Oh well… Elberoth is dead in 27 days…)

The town is outraged, and many want to go after Stardancer for murder. Others are not sad to see Tal dead, but are worried about the Tanbrosh supply.

At the CRM, the party is rested, (except for Sebastian whose only down two spells anyway),

Advancing clockwise, they run into the Swordmaster (Half Earth Elemental Ftr4), Miilak, 4 trogs, and 1 earth elemental. Three of the trogs are in a line, blocking the passage with longspears leveled. Another trog wielding a greatsword, dressed in half plate and having a shiny, rocky skin is just behind them, with two more trogs and a rock creature as reserves.
Elberoth runs up and makes another leap attack, dispatching one trog, but missing the second. A second trog goes down to magic missile fire. The greatsword wielding trog points his sword at Elberoth, and rocks shoot from the sword to hit Elberoth. The swordmaster then charges Elberoth, and also jumps high into the air, and kills the barbarian. The rest of the party makes short work of the remaining trogs.
Loot the 3 rooms, find trap, rest tonight (4th) head back morning of 5th.

Harvester 5, midday.
Back at Rastor, the party is confronted by the entire village, demanding Stardancer be turned over to them for trial and then hanging. Stardancer. Makes the speech of her life, saying she has figured out a cure for the Tanbrosh addiction (Dipl 28). She has worked on the 25 doses of tanbrosh left by Elberoth. With Nero’s help, she can make anti-toxin, if she gets a supply of the source plants. Some of the addicted orcs know where they can harvest Tanbrosh, trading the plant for more doses. The village is willing to let Stardancer live, as long as no one from Rastor or the Orc village dies. Anyone dies, you die….

With samples of the plant, and using Tal’s Alchemy lab, Stardancer quickly gets to work and makes 32 doses of antitoxin the first day. She continues to work, and 16 days later has cured everyone. Stardancer and Nero are heroes, and Stardancer decides to stay in Rastor.

Patchwall 1,2,3,4,5..16 with Nero. Stardancer retires to Rastor as Alchemist. Nero stays in town to help heal everyone , as there are not enough healers without him.

Patchwall 2
Ragnarok and Allanon Ingnatious Ricard show up, join the party.
Allanon is a paladin of Al Akbar and a member of the Sundered Scales. Ragnarok appears to be a barbarian.

Back to CRM… The party finds a fiendish swarm of centipedes and Uskathoth. They find another clue, with Alton dodging the Glyph of Warding.

They proceed on to the lighted large room and see a large ziggurat, and then hear a loud scream from on top, as a young adolescent girl is sacrificed to some beastly evil rite. Too late to save the girl, the party discusses how best to approach the upcoming battle.

Dafr opens up with a fireball, which kills many of the trogs on the main floor, as well as three earth mephitis. The priest on top of the ziggurat screams, and orders what’s left of his minions to attack. They are joined by the xorn. A little bit of magic and melee later, the party has dispatched the vile evil trogs, taking little damage to themselves.

The party divided up their well-earned spoils. [[Lon Darso Er'faron, Son of Alon]] left to pursue other interests. [[Sir Sarin]] also left, having

accomplished his mission of recovering the bastardsword Shatterspike for the Church of Pelor.

The party picked up two new members, [[Sebastian]] and [[Alton]] at the Ol' Boar Inn.

The party decided to collect the fruit from the Gulthias tree at the bottom of the SunlessCitadel, and then proceed on to [[Enstad]] in hopes of finding clues to KhunDrakkar. They met [[Rais]] on the road.

Wealsun 28
On the road to Enstad the party spots a large humanoid, apparently made of rock, The strange stone giant demands a 5 gp toll to allow the party to pass. Of course Elberoth couldn't allow the challenge to go unanswered....

Richfest 1-4
After defeating the poor innocent young goliath youth, the party continued on the [[Enstad]], capital city of Celene. They saw a patrol of the famed hippogrif cavalry leaving the city, and gazed upon the towering silver spires and golden domes of the queens palace.

After traveling for 4 days, they find the fabled stronghold, and find a hidden entrance, which puts them behind the orcish defenders. The party clears the top level, and prepares to descend.
Wealsun 6 CY 595

Went to lower level. Fought a few goblins and weak bugbears.
Were attacked by a shadow near a dragon statue. Ulfgar cried.

Found a library, apparently belonging to the evil head cleric of this place.

Found an underground grove, full of briars. Fought more of the twig monsters, and then confronted the druid in charge.

Apparently this grove started hundreds of years ago when a vampire was staked. The stake grew into this giant tree. The tree produces two fruits a year. A red one at midsummer that heals, and a white on at mid winter that kills. [[Belak]] is trying to spread the twig children onto the surface.

Fought and defeated [[Belak]]. [[Sir Bradford]] and [[Sharwyn]] have been turned into supplicants, and are part plant now. [[Sir Bradford]] sundered [[Ulfgar]]’s waraxe before being felled by [[Eladriel]].
After the fight was over, [[Elderoth]] punched [[Lon]], hoping to knock him out. Apparently [[Elderoth]] had had enough of [[Lon]]’s attitude. [[Lon]] didn’t go down easy, and charmed and hypnotized [[Elderoth]]. [[Eladriel]] then stepped in, and [[Lon]] chose to run away with the majority of the party treasure. [[Eladriel]] and [[Malkoth]] gave pursuit, and [[Malkoth]] stopped [[Lon]] with a well placed flaming sphere.

[[Malkoth]] and [[Eladriel]] will decide what [[Lon]] gets to keep from the party, before sending him on his way. [[Lon]] may or may not return. The party has not decided yet what to do about the tree and [[Sharwyn]]

The party hasn't decided what to do, now that the treat to [[Oakhurst]] has been taken care of.

Patchwall 15 nightime

The Yahoo’s (yes this is your name, until you tell me something better.) continue to search for the cleric that disappeared. After several minutes they head back towards the mines, hoping to cut him off. Waiting for them along the path….a Barbazu.
After trading insults, the Yahoo’s defeat the summoned lemurs, and begin working on the barbazu. They defeat the devil who teleports away.

The yahoo’s prepare to fight, casting several buff and protection spells. Nightscale makes a flyby breath attack, but the yahoo’s are not affected very much. Dafr uses Dancing Lights to try and keep the dragon illuminated, so other Sebastian and Kalis can dish out damage. Nightscale lands on the beach to thoroughly pummel Ragnarok. Rais finally hits on an attack 5d6 for 7 oints. Save for half…. Hehehe.
Rais attacks again.
And again And again
And again, and again….

Flocktime 26 CY 595

The party ends up in [[Oakhurst]]. Some here of rumors of a magic healing fruit. Others are on a mission to track a missing paladin, [[Sir Bradford]].

The party ventures out to the SunlessCitadel, and begins to explore the first level of gthe sunken fortress. They find skeletons, kobolds, and dire rats. The kobolds negotiate with them to try and get the party to recover the kobold's totem white dragon, [[Calcryx]], from the goblin tribe.
25 May 2007

6 Reaping

The party investigated the sounds of the foundry, where they surprised 5 duergar at work. One of the duergar spotted the party, and webbed the entrance. [[Rais]] the big meanie then brutally slaughtered the poor duergar, who was only interested in talking to his new friends, from a safe distance. One of the gray dwarves was spotted going over the falls, one escaped to warn others. Two were caught and killed.

The escaping dwarf ran behind the throne, after picking up a greatsword that fell out of the sky. Behind the throne were three more dwarves, one of which carried a two-bladed sword. One blade crackled with energy, and the other dripped with cold. [[Elberoth]] moved to attack, the two-bladed fighter smacked him real good. [[Eladriel]] moved up to defend the fallen [[Elberoth]], and was slain by the fighter. The rest of the party dispatched the dwarves and recovered Eladriel’s body. After much discussion, they decided to bury [[Eladriel]] outside under a tree, as that would be the most fitting resting place for a wood elf.

7-8-9 Reaping
The party rested a few days, and they were joined by [[Tomat]], who had heard rumors of a dragon in the area.

10 Reaping,
The party overcame a babbling ghost, a rug, a table, a armor dummy, and met a young serving girl. The young girl related she was imprisoned by a wizard(seems to be true), and can't leave the library without permission (seems to be true). She related the wizard is probably somewhere below (Maybe true). The wizard also told her there is a doppleganger and a dragon's lair under the mountain fortresss.(maybe true). She kissed [[Tomat]] before leaving for the safety of BlasingdaleCity.

11 12 Reaping Rest
The party was joined by [[Dafr]], a grey elf, as they continued to explore the Glitterhame. They encountered more troglodytes and a giant lizard. The trog sorcerer managed to escape at the end.

Session 17
24 August 2007

Patchwall 4

Meet up with Brickwall in CRM.
Brickwall is from another dwarven clan to the north. Rerrid gives him directions on where the party is, and likely are in the mines.

Brickwall found a bag, a scroll, and a symbol of Zilchus in the mines, just before he met up with the party. Apparently someone called “V” is watching the party, and has sent some aid to them.

Brickwall mentions a couple of gnoll statues down the other passageway. The party decides to not go that way. (CRM18)

They see another cross passage with some crude steps cut into the stone. Sebastian sends a summoned spider as bait. A green slime falls from the ceiling. The slime is quickly destroyed; Sebastian keeping one vial as breeding stock.

Alton scouts further ahead…..sees Ettin, sneaks away. He spots a beetle, slowly chasing him.

Ettin and his pet beetle Rust monster.
The party moves quietly along the tracks, hoping to sneak up on the ettin and large beetle that Alton spotted. SUCCESS! The party starts to unload on the ettin, but Ragnarok notices the beetle giving him the eye, and waving two long antennae about, before moving to close on Ragnarok. After Ragnarok’s shield dissolves into a pile of rust, the party quickly focuses on the rust monster, which is eyeing Brickwall’s mithril plate armor. The rust monster quickly falls to the combined attacks of the party, with his master the ettin not far behind.

The Pool
Alton is out front, quiet as an ethereal mouse, hiding like a guilty child. He sees a pool of clear water, and detects some magic items within it. Sebastian summons a porpoise into the pool to scout; nothing but 3 bodies. Sebastian reads a scroll, and throws the dwarf Bricklayer into the pool to retrieve the items.

Treasure and the Girallon.
The party continues on (heh when are you yahoo’s going to come up with a party name anyway?). They see several glowing reflections in a wall, and go to investigate. Someone has made a strange mural on wall. It looks like the mural is made of glass and crystal bits, but Alton’s nose finds the gems hidden there. Sebastian is puzzled by the small pyramid floating in mid air. As he investigates, he manages to touch the pyramid, which quickly falls to the ground and shatters, revealing a girallon. After defeating the girallon, The Yahoos, recover all the goodies in the rom, and head back to the pool room to rest.

Move towards the pool, hear loud splash, and scraping sounds… hide, hear roar.

Rest.

Patchwall 5th
Rais is reincarnated as half orc. The Yahoos go to Rastor. They spot a green dragon flying over head, but manage to hide in the thick trees.

A small caravan from Greenway Valley has arrived. The caravan lead by Bryan Brian Snapdragon Gazebo McDougal McFisticuffs promises to return every two weeks, as long as the party can provide him with enough treasure to make the trip worthwhile.

They are thankful for the aid, but they wish Stardancer had picked a different way to “resolve” the Tal Chammish problem.

Party identifies….Sword of Earth, Sword of Water, Amulet of proof against detection, Eyes of the Eagle, Gloves of Dex.

Brewfest 1

Grey render/couger

Brewfest 2

Go to Rastor.
Rastor lies at the end of the dirt road you have been traveling on for the last 10 days
The party walks into what seems to be the only inn/tavern on town, the Grey Lodge.
Yarew the Innkeeper greets them, and the party notices a young human serving girl bringing two bowls of stew to two orcs sitting at the back of the tavern. Rais mutters loudly about the presence of two creatures that might be better off dead…. . Orcs respond in orcish, and Elberoth helpfully translates for Rais. Rais insults orcs… 2v2 bar fight with two orcs, as Elberoth jumps in.
24 seconds later….
Rais unconcious, Elberoth knocks out the 2 orcs.

Nero heals orcs and Elberoth.
Elberoth shaves Rais’s head…..And add eye makeup from Stardancer…. Rais is much better looking!

Most of the town has arrived to see what the commotion was all about. Sebastian has started buying drinks for everyone. He’s quite popular. Elberoth is doing his best to convince two of the younger, prettier ladies to go with him upstairs… 2 half –orcs take him up, to see if what they heard about elves is really true…

Rais wakes up in bed with a monkey, wearing eye makeup and no clothes.

Alton shows the note addressed to Dunrat, which implicates Tal Chammish to Tal, and demands an explanation. Tal denies everything (Never heard of Dunrat, never loaned out my wagon, quit bothering me…)

Stardancer follows Tal back to his house. She waits for tal to go to sleep, the searches the house, finds herbs, a black robe, and alchemy gear.

Information Gathered in Rastor during the impromptu party —
•	Crater mines 6 miles west-south west, dwarves got kicked out by religious cult (ochre robes). Cult summoned creatures, devils and demons.
•	Ochre robed priests seen traveling through the area. They leave everyone alone, so we leave them alone. Probably from the crater mines, but what can we do?
•	Sometimes adventurers come through; most leave soon or at least we don’t see them again. Tymerian might have more information about that.
•	Orcs ok, don’t cause trouble. The trade furs, gold and gems for food staples and other necessaries.

Party follows directions to CRM main entrance, sneak up. They see a large archway and two closed iron bound doors. They can hear some gnolls talking. The rogues sneak up, and see the entranceway is covered by arrowslits on both sides. One side as four gnolls playing dice, and the other has 4 humans playing cards.

A plan is devised… the party sneaks up, opens the doors, sneak in… and see four symbols inlaid in the entrance. They move around the symbols, take up attack positions on both sides of the entrance where they think the guards are located, and burst into both rooms at the same time.

Surprise two sets of guards…. Wipe out 4 gnolls and 4 humans
Alton kills 3 others. The fourth rings a alarm bell. Alton kills 4th
Doors open, howler charges… Rais is ready for charge, ride check negates 50 point hit.
Lucy crits and hits again for 66.. Howler goes down. Party pounds on a few remaining gnolls and the ogre. Dafr drops the web spell over the two ballistas, revealing several zombies and more human warriors. Dafr drops a fireball, and everyone except the troglodyte goes down. Trog doesn’t last very long.

Loot:

Wealsun 6-7

The party finshes clearing out most of the first level, defeating the kobolds and the goblins.

They explore two passages they had previously bypassed, in order to deal with the kobold and goblin infestation.

One room had 5 skeleton warriors defending an ancient shrine. The other passage led to a tomb of a dragonpriest troll. After a brief rest, the party descended the vine covered pit down to the second level, where they fought some skeletons, twig creatures, and more goblins.

A cavern to the north leads off to somewhere, but it is marked with a skull and crossbones sign.

Rais was sent back to Verbobonc with Elberoth. It’s hoped that the Order of the Glittered Scales can help Rais.

11, 12 Harvester resting

The rest of the party decided to rest and recover in the tower of the Moathouse.

After a day and a half, the party ventures back into the lower levels of the moathouse, hoping to find more clues and treasure. They find the entire dungeon empty, except for a cold pool of water. Dafr remembers something about a pool from one of the notes they had already found. The pool had a large round wood platform propped up on the wall, as well as a large iron ring sunk into the ceiling above the pool.

Further investigation indicates there may be something below the pool. Malkoth summons a thoqqua, which burrows under the pool. Suddenly there was a load crack, and the pool began to drain. Someone had cunningly designed the pool with a stone plug at the bottom. The pool was fed from a underground stream, and had an exit drain just below the surface.

Beneath the pool was a large black circle of stone. After some discussion, they party rigged the platform to hang below the iron ring. They slowly descended the 60 feet to the stone platform. Stardrifter went to explore, when the purple veins in the blacks stone began to writhe, and seemed to be chasing Stardrifter.

The party spotted another wooden platform across the stone, hanging in midair. They quickly made their way to the second platform, and began to descend into the depths. Sebastian cast light on a copper piece, and dropped it over the edge. The copper fell for several seconds before hitting bottom with a faint clink.

After descending for a minute or so, Tolmut was attacked by a tentacle from above. The party quickly looked up to see a huge floating brain, with several tentacles waving menacingly, and a large beak snapping away. Several of the party ended up paralyzed before the beast was defeated. The cunning creature stayed out of sword range, and used all of it’s tentacles to attack as many of the party as possible. Eventually it was dispatched with several magic missiles and a few bowshots from Alton. If only Rais and his pole of extraordinary size was still with the party……

Arriving safely at the bottom, the party was amazed to see this huge stone obelisk balanced on a point no bigger than a copper piece.
Sebastian climbed up the 30 foot store pillar to investigate where the obelisk and the pillar met. There was nothing obvious up there, no runes or inscriptions. He touched the point where the obelisk met the pillar, and disappeared. He returned a few seconds later, holding a lustrous black fruit. Stardrifter ate the fruit.

Shortly after that, Malkoth and Tolmut are attacked by a gibbering man waving a short sword and wearing full plate armor. He was quickly defeated. They did find another note on his body:

“The Water Temple will soon make its move against the forces of Fire. Return quickly Festrath, for we need your aid. Together, we shall win the favor of the doomdreamers and the Triad itself.”

Sebastian then moves to investigate the black archway nearby. He touches the wall, and a
Tentacle lunges forth, hitting Sebastian and paralyzing him. Another floating brain emerges from the wall! A short time later, the grell has been dispatched. This time, the party falls back into a semi circle away from the arch, and they send a summoned wolf into the archway. The wolf bounces off the wall, and three tentacles attack, followed by three grells….

After defeating the grells, they continue to explore the cavern floor, taking care not to step on the two symbols inlaid into the floor. Malkoth takes a drink of the fresh water pouring down from above, and takes 14 Con damage….

Fortunently, Nero reduced the damage enough to where Malkoth might survive. The party returns to the surface, where the rest for 8 hours so Nero can re-learn some healing, and save Malkoth.

They rest that night and the entire next day (13 Harvester.)

14 Harvester.
Thay aprty returns to the moathouse convinced there must be more there. They find a stone wall at the end of one passage. The wall is not the same stone sued on the passage. The use stone shape to get past the wall, and discover another passageway leading back to the upper moathouse, as well as into a different room. The second passage has a amazingly lifelike statue of a dire rat just inside the entrance. Malkoth hears chicken clucking, and pads down the hall to investigate, keeping his eyes shut. He smells the creatures, and slinks up until his scent locates then within five feet. He leaps to attack, growling out a command to his companion Ravage to join him.

Malkoth attacks the 30 pound chicken. The chicken returns the favor, and Malkoth is turned into stone. The rest of the party continues to advance to his aid, only to have Xaod the Slayer turned into stone, as well as Dafr. Dafr had cast protective magic on himself, and was dodging and weaving to avoid getting hit, but there is always a chance of taking damage in combat.

They party kills both chickens. The find two black robes with a sun symbol on them, as well as a body in rusted half plate lying in another room. They also find several gems.

15, 16, 17, 18 Harvester
They drag the three newly made lawn decorations out to the edge of the moathouse, go back to town and hire a wagon and driver from Naresh the teamster. They take everything into Verbobonc to find an arcane caster who can cast flesh to stone on the three fallen heroes.

A short time and a lot of gold later, Dafr and Malkoth return to the living. Xaod didn’t survive the experience, and his puddled remains were returned to the temple of Heironeous.

Travel back to Rastor… ready’reat 18-28. The 25th and 26th are very cold, with temperatures falling below freezing, although there is no snow. The Lortmils have added snow during the month they have been gone.

Arriving back at the Crater Ridge Mine, the party finds the main doors closed, and now lights from within. Alton opens the main doors to find a zombie hoard waiting for him and the party. The party quickly forms a wall, and prepares to cut down all the zombies.

Zirdock weaves his way through the horde, dishing out damage to may of the zombies, when he spots one zombie that has many small green worms crawling out of the zombies eyes and mouth.
He shouts a warning that some of the zombies are more dangerous than they appear. As he tumbles away from the worm ridden zombies, two of them grab a worm and throw them at the party, hitting Rais and Ragnarok. The fight continues, and the works burrow under the armor and into the bodies of the two victims. From the back of the horde, two Kuo toa clerics cast, blinding Alton and attempting to stun the rest of the party with a sound burst. The zombie umberhulk moves forward to attack, biting Hrothgar. The worms continue to burrow. Ragnarok begins a death chant expecting to die soon, and trying to take as many zombies down as possible. Rais retreats, and casts shocking grasp on himself and the borrowing worm, hoping to kill it.
Ragnarok retreats to Nero. Nero trips the dwarf, whips out a long slender dagger, and plunges deep into Ragnarok’s neck, killing the worm, but not killing Ragnarok.

The party dispatches the rest of the horde, looting the three EEE water holy symbols from the Koa-toa. Nero expends all of his healing bringing the party back to near full strength.

Areas encountered 39, 45, 43, 40, 49

After defeating the two trolls guarding the offset double doors, the party pushes on to explore the rest of this built up area. Perhaps the party should have paused to consider the implications of meeting 2 trolls, then 2 trolls with armor and weapons. What are they guarding, and what is powerful enough to control 4 trolls?

Continuing on, they hear loud roars and the scrape of claws on the stone floor. Two large lizards come running around the corner to trap the party at the double doors. 15 seconds later, the last lizard is ready to fall, when a fireball explodes in the middle of the party, causing much hate and ph34r. An ogre with large bat wings appears further down the corridor, before disappearing into a globe of darkness. The party retreats to cover to heal and quickly plan. Kazuma, Ragnorak and Hardbrick continue to advance towards the darkness. Kazuma feels a touch, but doesn’t see anything, but feels like his years of dedication to his art have just saved him.

The party continues to advance towards the dark hemisphere, to defeat the evil that awaits.

An Ice storm goes off near the front line fighters, and a cone of artic air blasts out of the darkness, killing Kazuma.

The rest of the party work on the fiendish ogre, and then go after the invisible flying wizard.

Ragnarok, Hrothgar, Rais, Alton, Sebastian, Hardbrick, Kalis, Jorian, plus dafr

The party carefully advances into the water, then decides to back and get the boats. They paddle cautiously into the Water Temple, after Sebastian has had summoned creatures scout for them.
The Temple is empty. Where is everyone?

Recalling the information provided by the naga, and the mystery V, Sebastian presses two lesser water keys together. They fuse into one key. He then tries and air and earth key; nothing happens. Sebastian presses two Air keys together; they fuse as well, He then takes the Greater Water Key and the Greater Air key, and presses them together. They fuse and a small quiet chiming sound is heard. Sebastian has made a Master Key.
Stainding on the Temple altar, Sebastian says the phrase from the scroll. He begins to glow, and feels even more powerful than before. Hrothgar, Ragnarok and hardbrick also hold the key and say the words. Alton, Rais and Jarian want no part of a ritual involving a evil altar.

Blessing at water temple….

Ragnarok 3 CON
Hardbrick 6 STR

A scouting porpoise spots several human-sized and shaped creatures swimming towards the Earth bridge.

Proceed on, clear out large portions of the mines.

They open a set of large locked doors, and see a large summoning circle, perhaps 60 feet across. The party hears sounds of fighting coming from the direction of the fire temple, but decides to explore this area first while everyone else is distracted.

A Gray Render attacks from behind. Lasts two rounds before dying.

Alton petrified opening a trapped box.
Head to Rastor, then Greenway valley. (Sunsebb, 4,5)

Met a 10th level gnomish bard. The bard was most interested in the parties story, especially the part about the Temple of All Consumption trying to break Tharizdun free. The gnome does mention that there have been reports of some activity at the old temple of Elemental Evil, but there has been no call to muster an army.

The next morning he casts Break Enchantment to free Alton. Alton is back and PISSED. Rais and Hrothgar took advantage of the time to paint Alton up as a flower child.

Sunsebb 6 7 8
Back to CRM. Meet Rerrid and his clan going back to Temple of Moradin.

After leaving the dwarven temple, the party heads back towards the water temple. They spot a female human wearing chainmail armor, examining a door. She hears Rais being his usual quiet self. Meet Bethe, …she talks to party, determines names, classes, abilities. She is looking for a large diamond, Tulian’s Eye that is supposed to be in this area. She agrees to go off to a room with Hrothgar. One hour later, after much heaving and sweating, grunts, groans and screams, all accompanied by Rais pounding on the door, yelling at Hrothgar to hurry up.. Then she attacks, sneak plus death, 30 pts, Dc17 fort, plus Dc18 poison….Hrothgar survives, then hits for 40. She casts darkness, then hides. Hrothgar swings and misses, she spider climbs up wall, then uses Javelin of Lightning.
Alton picks lock, Jorian dispels darkness, Alton shoots her and kills her. Nero heals an unrepentant Hrothgar. Rais begins his lecture on the power of AlAkbar, and the wages of sin.

Rais discovers another scroll in his backpack. This one is a map of the Fanes, with a note signed by V"

" I do not know if I can continue to help you. Hedrack is worried about the lack of communication from two of the temples, and has sent one of his henchmen to investigate. Be on your guard. Hopefully it is one of the human assassins, and not Thrommel or a demonic follower. The Water and Fire temples have broken out into open conflict, this might make it easier for you to attack the Fanes, although everyone is on alert."

Party head on to two open passages
Kiki goes right, Alton to left. Kiku sees a stone tower with 4 to 6 guards. Alton hears two gnolls talking. Kiku spots gnolls while invis. Scouts retreat. Party plans attack.
Whack everything in 2 rounds. Very shortly after that, Alton spots a Large air elemental coming around a corner. It turns into whirlwind, flies through most of the party and captures Rothgar, kiku, Rais. Rais dim door out of the whirlwind. Rothgar attacks the very air while flying about like toto, and the air quiets down.

Advance to the temple….. They spot 3 humans in plate, 2 ogres, 6 large skeletons,, a large air elemental

“Perhaps we should prepare for such large battle” says Rothgar. “Lets rest, and plan our attack.”

Patchwall 28
After resting and planning the fight, the party returns to the temple area. Alton spots a guard in the stone tower, as the guard yells a warning before perishing to Alton’s bow.

Scouting quickly, Alton spots the same three humans, as well as the two ogres, 6 large skeletons, 6 gnolls, and 6 warriors.
Buff spells planned and cast, the two scouts positioned inside behind the waiting enemies, Dafr opens up with a fireball, slaying 10 of the evil cultists and their minions. The invisible scouts attack, dealing grievous damage to the apparent cleric atop the temple’s shrine. The cleric cast a darkness spell, but kiku takes damage from the darkness as she feels the cold touch of evil surround her. The rest of the temple’s guards advance to attack, with two gnolls dashing out of the fight down the right hand corridor. The rest of the party piles into the main temple room, laying waste to the temples guardians. Shortly after the cleric atop the shrine falls, the human female calls out “You have defeated Fachish. You may pass through MY temple now” as she retreats with 5 of the large skeletons forming a wall of animated bone around her.

The party will have none of that, and Jorian turns the skeletons, and the party destroys what little remains of the Air Temple’s guardians.

An account of our adventure
[IMG[http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d72/piperj/Rtoee/rttoeheader.jpg]]
Return to Temple of Elemental Evil
Stardance was always a mysterious figure. Very reticent, even for an elf.
It's a fine, warm afternoon, and the streets are bustling as you head for the Trader's Market. As you pass through the market’s archway, you can tell right away the market is different today. Instead of the calls of hawkers, laughter of children, and barking of dogs, there's a whole lot of murmuring punctuated by occasional loud chanting. The air smells of parchment, not fruit and flour. The crowd is a bit older; some appear distinguished and wealthy, while others are decidedly seedier, and one or two manage to be a bit of both.

A couple of cavalrymen and archers of the Viscount's Standing Army stand watch by the entrance archway.

A woman with a shaved head in a robe covered with embroidered eyes of Boccob argues good-naturedly with a middle-aged, potbellied gnome in a thick gray velvet shift. It's hard to imagine how he's not sweating like crazy in the heat. Perhaps he's distracted by his ridiculous hat, which features a pair of hands clutching a faux bag of gold. The bag of gold covers the top of the gnome's head both fore and aft; it looks like some weird hair.

A short human paladin of Rao leans against the wall behind the two priests looking extremely bored.

In addition to adventurers and mystical types, there are a surprising number of ordinary-looking farmers, hunters, peddlers and workers circulating through the market. Some are just gawking, but many seem to be seeking spellcasting-for-hire. In fact the majority of business being done is of this variety.

Many non-magical but magic related items are for sale. Alchemical equipment, material component-quality gems, extracts of exotic animals and plants, etc.

Bards wander through the crowd singing and creating minor illusions

By asking around you determine that in fact there is a magic item market held Starday afternoon. There is some buying, selling and trading of items under the supervision of priests of Zilchus. They take a commission (20%) on each item sold, or 12% cash fee on trades (each party pays 12% of the value of what he receives in the trade). The priests of Zilchus, with help from a couple of priests of Boccob, certify that items are properly identified and make sure that no cursed items or items of obviously evil provenance are sold (ring of mind shielding would be okay, book of vile darkness or assassin's dagger wouldn't be).

Since you'll be likely to want to make deals quickly, while most of the buyers and sellers there aren't in any particular hurry, you'll probably end up eating these tax costs most of the time.

... on any given Starday:
1. You can find a fairly wide selection of items for sale at 120% book cost.
2. You can sell any item at 50% of book cost or trade them at 65% of book cost - if you can find someone interested in the particular item, which may not always be easy.
3. A high demand, particularly useful item will give you a good bonus to sell or trade; conversely, this will give you a penalty if you're the buyer.

Makers of magical items also come to the market on Starday. They operate under different terms, as their business is considered artisanship rather than commerce. They contract to make magic items for order, and must only pay a nominal annual fee to the temple of Zilchus, the cost of which they spread across many sales. Generally, they're not interested in trading for other items - they work for cash.

So essentially they will make magic items for close to book cost. You can assume that you can get any item requiring a caster level of 5 or less crafted automatically and at book price - there are many people who can make these things for you. Caster levels from 6 to 10 aren't going to be too difficult to find a maker, though at caster level 9 and 10 you may have to wait for the crafter to fit you in to his schedule. Over caster level 11 is possible but may cost higher than book price and will certainly take a while, since there aren't more than a handful of magic item crafters of that power in the city and they are usually in high demand.

Magic items take 1 day per 1,000 gp of value to craft, with a minimum of 1 day. So you can figure out how long it will take to get something made, though some crafters may not be able to start right away, as mentioned above. Once you've successfully made a deal with a particular crafter, you'll know how to reach him or her in the future (and not have to wait for the Starday market in order to enter into a contract with him or her).

Hey look at the hairy halfling!
Ulmyrios' shop is tucked away down an alley in the East End. He turns out to be a grim, bearded man with red hair - probably a Suel. He wears scratched-looking leathers and smells - to put it delicately - a bit woodsy. He seems to be a man of few words and doesn't look like he enjoys haggling.

Ulmyrios will buy magic bows and ammo at 60% book value in cash. He doesn't give extra for trade. He can make magic bows to order, though he demands a full 50% cash deposit. He can enchant up to a +2 total enchantment, and can add any special ability that requires a spell on the adept list of level 3 or below (he's an 8th level adept). Notably this includes "shock" (requires lightning bolt).

+1 Arrows, Bolts, and Bullets, plentiful supply - (2,350 gp for 50)
+2 Longbow (8,375)
+1 Longbow (2,375)
+1 Shock Shortbow (8,330)
+1 Shock Mighty Composite (+4 Str bonus) Longbow (8,800)
MW Mighty Composite (+2 Str bonus) Longbow (800)

Verbobonc is a region of the Flaneass, set in the Greyhawk universe. The capitol is Verbobonc, a thriving city on the Velverdyva river. The region owes allegiance to the Arhclericy of Veluna to the north.

Verbobonc city is the capital of the region, population about 12,000.

The trading town might have fallen from the gaze of history if not for the development, in the late 550s of a nexus of evil southeast of the town, in the Kron Hills. This outpost, the infamous [[Temple of Elemental Evil]], soon became a beacon for vile men and humanoids from across the Flanaess. These evil forces began raiding the overland caravan routes which pass through or near Hommlet, thus threatening this avenue of trade between Dyvers and Verbobonc as well as the local hill folk and gnomes. The raids did not appear alarming at first, but gradually increased over time. Efforts by the Gnarley rangers, mounted patrols from Verbobonc, local woodsmen, and gnomes from Ostverk apparently checked, but did not stop, the spread of outlawry and evil. In the year 560 CY various troubles began to crop up between the Viscounty and the Kron Hill gnomes. Trade goods disappeared on their trek from the Kron Hills to Verbobonc City, gnome merchants reported being harassed by Verbobonc patrols, Verbobonc patrols reported defeating humanoid raiding parties paid by gnomish coin, and gnome claims of human raids on their caravans. Worst of all was an attempted assassination of Prince Jimm of the Gnomes of the Kron Hills, a resident of Verbobonc City. All of these troubles proved to be the doings of an agent from the Temple of Elemental Evil. He was revealed and chased out of the city.

By 568 CY, it became clear that the Temple villains had established an army, and the following year saw a banding together of the forces of good to clear the Verbobonc lands of its evil scourge. Contingents of men-at-arms and cavalry from Verbobonc, Furyondy, and Veluna, together with a force of dwarves from the Lortmils, gnomes from the Kron Hills, and an army of elven archers and spearmen gathered together against the vast horde of evil men and humanoids based at the Temple of Elemental Evil. The opposing forces initially met on the grassy fields south of the Velverdyva River and several leagues to the east of Verbobonc Town. The allied forces of good maneuvered against the evil forces, closing upon the stronghold of the evil creatures, the walled Temple near Nulb, not far from Hommlet. Elven scouts reported that a huge evil army was approaching from the south. The Marshall of Furyondy, leader of the combined forces, ordered a withdrawal northward to a position scouted earlier. This new position would afford more open ground for the heavy cavalry and pikemen to effectively operate. Light cavalry skirmishers were sent out to screen the withdrawal, and no real fighting took place that day.

The horde of evil creatures and men marched forth the next morning into the Emridy meadows northwest of Nulb. These meadows were so named from the Emridy Run, a small tributary of the Imeryds Run, which enters the larger river from the west. The allied army waited with formed ranks, pike-men from Furyondy, Veluna and Verbobonc were arrayed so that their right flank was secured by the Emridy Run; in the center were the banners of horse, and on the allied left were deployed bands of dwarves and gnomes, with a few units of elven archers place in the intervals between. The flank of the demihumans protected by the Imeryds Run. The humanoids fell immediately upon the allied left, while the men in the evil ranks rode to engage the allied center and right. The hordes of orcs, gnolls, and ogres thrust aside their hated foes and rushed to encircle the balance of the allied army. But, this fell into the Marshall of Furyondy’s planned trap. The whole human portion of the allied army pivoted backward to the left as the demi-humans pivoted backward and right, and a large contingent of previously screened heavy cavalry charged into the right flank of the humanoids. Meanwhile, squares of elves emerged from the Imeryds Run where they had remained hidden until this moment. Trapped in this pocket with the pike-men now advancing into their left flank, the cavalry in their front, the demi-humans on their right and the elven squares at their rear, the packed mass of evil humans and humanoids fought hopelessly. When the great slaughter was finished, the allies went on to besiege the Temple of Elemental Evil itself. It fell after a fortnight. Powerful mages and clerics sealed the temple ruins with arcane bindings, claiming to have trapped a powerful demon within its golden doors.

The peace was short lived. The so-called “Second Rising” of the Horde of Elemental Evil surprised no one. Viscount Wilfrick, alerted to the growing evil by agents in the south, ordered the construction of a castle at the sleepy Village of Hommlet. In the late 570s, dozens of parties of adventurers sallied forth against the temple. After much loss of life, the horde seemed at last to have met defeat. The castle at Hommlet was completed in 581 CY, and the folk of Verbobonc began cautiously to return to a life unhindered by the shadow of evil. Verbobonc was not an official participant in the Greyhawk Wars, though dozens of volunteer companies native to the viscounty bolstered the armies of Furyondy and Veluna. It was rumored that Scarlet Brotherhood agents and “advisors” had counseled the Viscount to sit tight in those troubled times., yet no proof was ever discovered. When the volunteers returned from the wars in the north, they found their homeland embroiled in a desperate political struggle with the nations they had left to assist.

But most likely, if [[Sebastian]] should happen to fall, he will be replaced by a dwarven hero named Dambrikk Stonewall.

What's the difference between a male and a female elf? - the color of their tights...
"Pointy eared forest nazi's!!".

Ahem. My personal favorite..

 Dandelion-eating-tree-hugging-squirrel-buggering-pointy-eared-freaks!

Hmmm, well it seems to me that the insults are going fine but you might
want to consider the elf's responses to the taunts... for instance, if the human says the elf's ears are like the devil's horns then the elf might say "Well you know what they say, the size of a man's ears determines the size of his..."

Yeah, but what good's a tool you can only use once a year...?

Dandelion eating, undead, wipes his ass with bark, mindless, weakling, china doll, lying, smelly, back-biting sodomite!

Why do female Dwarves grow beards? So the male dwarves can tell the
difference between female dwarves and female Orcs.
